HIPPO

Here is a three color serigraph I made of a hippo skull. Would like to do a series of these, I'm thinking a Muntjack skull next...

I just did these two poster for Kurt Vile in Dallas and Murder By Death in Connecticut.

THE DECEMBERISTS

I did this poster for the Decemberist's "Hazards of Love Poster Contest" which they posted on one of their fan forums. The contest was for a show they did at SXSW at which they were going to ( and did ) play their new album in it's entirety. I didn't win but I liked doing the poster as it has a lot of fun elements in it and is for one of my favorite bands. Perhaps in the future I'll be able to do a show poster for them. Speaking of which, I picked up this poster by Strawberryluna at the Decemberists show here in PGH on Friday. They were fantastic, as is her poster.

MY CARDBOARD SPACESHIP ADVENTURE

Few new things I've done for the good guys in MCSA ( one of the best band names ever in my opinion). These guys are all about color and happiness and for someone who is usually content to dwell in earth tones and melancholy, it's a nice change of pace. Look for these upstanding young men on the Kevin Says stage at the Pittsburgh ( Burgettstown ) stop of this summer's Van's Warped Tour, July 8th.

SXSF

I was asked to do a poster for the inaugural South By SouthFlesh festival. I was given the prompt by the promoter of having a bunch of zombies surrounding all the band names in some way. Was a lot of fun to work on and printed very nicely.

THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES

I love the name of this band and had an idea for this poster right away. I have an affinity for just about all things D&D related, especially where Dwarves are concerned. So, any time I have the opportunity to include one of the diminutive folk, I will.

DON CABALLERO

Another band I know virtually nothing about. I listened to some stuff online to get some inspiration and I'm still not sure where the pirate ship came from. Nothing wrong with a little high seas battle though I suppose...

BORIS

Poster for the band Boris. This was a last minute thing I was asked to do. Threw it together and printed very quickly on short notice. Fun though.

TORCHE

John from Parade of Flesh asked me to do a poster for the upcoming Torche show in Dallas. I immediately got the idea for a Dwarf mining ore in a dimly lit tunnel. The idea to put it on Yellow paper came later, as was the decision to add white. Cool poster though, and a lot of fun to do all around.

PELICAN

Mark from Manic Productions asked recently if I'd like to do a poster for a Baroness show... Yeah! I like the band and could think of quite a few ways to take a design for them.. For whatever reason that date and location on the tour were canceled. Bummer. I asked if he had anything else I might be into in the not-to-distant-future?... How about a Pelican show? A stuttered response followed....

FREEBIRD GALLERY

I've had the uncanny luck recently of befriending a couple guys who happen to have been starting up their own art gallery. There will be many more posts about FREEBIRD GALLERY in the coming months, but for now lets start with Emmeric. Emmeric is an LA based artist who does performance painting and who's high energy is brought to life in his paintings. Abstract and yet yet subtly familiar to those of us who know of the seedier side of things. At any rate, Josh and David ( The owners ) asked me to do promo stuff for Emmerics upcoming show. They both liked the look of my screen printed posters and we all agreed that it would be cool to do something like that for this show and ( their idea) every subsequent show. This is the first of those podters. Enjoy. Thanks a ton to David and Josh for the opportunity, you are quality people.

NEBULA -TOTIMOSHI

A few months ago, Joel from 100 Degrees and Ivarton came up with the idea of turning one of the Nebula-Totimoshi tour shows into a contest. Best poster, as decided by the two of them and the bands ( I'm guessing?? ) gets printed by the very talented folks at 100 Degrees studio. Would you believe, my design was chosen! Super cool, I was ( and am ) honored to have had my design tapped. Thanks again.

JUCIFER

A while back I was fortunate enough to land a Jucifer summer tour date. Unfortunately there was some confusion as to where the posters should be sent as they all came back to me a couple weeks after I'd sent them out... C'est la vie

GRAILS

I've just recently hashed out, with Manic Productions, the design for a concert featuring the band GRAILS. I was (am) super stoked for the opportunity to work with Manic/GRAILS and also to print what will prove my most challenging print to date. I can't wait!

IDP

Brian asked if I'd like to do the poster for his annual Independence Day Populaire and of course I jumped at the chance. Not only that, I thought, "Hey I could screen print these bad boys!" and that's exactly what I'm gonna do. Posting a little bit of my process in the early stages here..

Initial sketch taking shape. Uncle Sam is a pretty good looking guy!

FEED

Decided to do a little art print poster. No real motivation behind it. I've been on an insect kick lately and have taken a particular liking to making them look amazonian.

Strange Boys

A couple of weeks ago I got the opportunity to work with the good people at Parade of Flesh Productions to create a poster for an upcoming show they were putting on with The Strange Boys in Dallas. Being that it would mark my first "real" screen printing gig I was happy to do whatever it took to get the job done. When doing the design I made sure to kept it super simple as to cut down on potential problems during the run. There is really only one element ( the "strange boy") the really needed attention when registering, otherwise it went of without a hitch. Woo! Number one is in the books! Thanks to Mike Z., Roby C., Donnie, Jeremy and Chris for all the help and support in getting me started and keeping me afloat.
